Happy Saint Patrick’s day!
The world celebrates St Patrick with dancing green leprechauns and an overabundance of beer.
I lift up my glass of Guinness and say well done Saint Patrick. You answered the call to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to Ireland which was a land of paganism, false gods and idol worship. You endured hardships and strive from all sides. You stood on Luke 10:19 “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents..” and James 4:7 “…Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” and expelled the serpents into the sea at Croagh Patrick and slew the giant lake serpent at Lough Derg. You went against the powers of darkness (Eph6:12) and prevailed.
The world usually remembers a person’s birth into this world, not so with you. The world celebrates the day of your departure from this world , March 17 461 AD, as recognition of your years of being a faithful and victorious soldier of Christ.
You baptized thousands of pagans thru full water immersion (it would be another 850 years before the Catholic Church changed full water immersion baptism into a light sprinkling of water in 1311 AD) snatching those heading for destruction from out of the fire (Jud 1:23) and transferring them into the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (Col1:13).
Your excellent use of the shamrock to explain the relationship between the Father, Son and Holy Spirit still is imprinted for all to see on this day. Though the world may celebrate the day thru booze and folly and not give St Patrick a thought – there are those that still recognized his effort, strength and endurance needed for his ministry work.
Mat 9:37 Then He *said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.
Mat 9:38 “Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.”
Isa 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Thank you Jesus for calling and sending Saint Patrick to Ireland. May we all be successful in the ministry that you have assigned to all of us.
