Here I am, send me

                                                           Here am I, send me.

The words of the prophet Isaiah answering Jesus who was calling out “Whom shall I send ?” – Is 6:8.

Before you can answer the call you must first hear the call.  So many people can not hear the call or have chosen to ignore the call.

Others in the bible heard the call and asked for help before executing the task God sent them to perform.

  1.  Moses had a speech impediment  (Ex4:10)
  2.  Gideon was fearful (Jud 6:27, 7:10-11) and sought confirmation twice (Jud 6:35-40) but yet still doubted.  The Lord told him to go and  listen to the talk of doom in the Medianite’s camp (Jud7:14-15).
  3.  Samson was weak from sin (Jud 16:28) asked for strength to push down the 2 pillars holding up the Philistines house (Jud16:30)
  4.  Solomon lacked discernment and leadership and asked for understanding to do the job as a King (1Kg3:6-9).
  5. A father in Mark 9:24 fervently asked Jesus to help his unbelief.

KJV Mark 9:24  And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

Being an imperfect Christian, in need of help, I ask:

Jesus, Here I am, send me.  I don’t wish to stumble as the un-named prophet (1Kg13:11-23) or have your Holy Spirt to depart from me as what happened to King Saul (1Sam16:14). I request before going:

  • Grant me a wise and understanding heart as King Solomon (1Kg3:12)
  • Grant me the health of Joshua whose strength never failed (Josh14:11)
  • Remove all diseases from myself and my family (Ex15:26)
  • Grant me the silence of not asking for desires that is not in accordance with your will (Jud11:34-36, Job2:10)
  • Grant me the ability of Elijah to defend my family (2Kg1:10)
  • Grant me the tolerance of Obadiah to be able to work in the system (1Kg18:3-4) and still do your will.
  • Grant me the calmness and ability to forgive my persecutors like Stephen who prayed for those stoning him (Acts7:59-60)
  • Grant me discretion and strength to resist all sexual temptations (Acts15:20) which caused King David and King Solomon to stumble
  • Grant me a double portion of the Spirit of Elijah as Elisha requested (2Kg2:9)
  • Grant me a new heart and renew a right Spirit within me (Ps51:10)
  • Guide and direct my steps (Ps32:8)
  • Open doors for me to walk thru and close the doors that you don’t want be to walk thru (Rev3:7-8)

Jesus, Here am I; send me.

KJV Isaiah 6:1-8

1  In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2  Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
3  And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
4  And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
5  Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.
6  Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
7  And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.
8  Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
