Learned Behaviour

A Scripture verse in Titus really popped out to me. Titus 3:14

NASB Titus 3:14 Our people must also learn to engage in good deeds to meet pressing needs, so that they will not be unfruitful.

Paul is telling Titus that he MUST learn to engage in good deeds.

If you don’t learn to engage then you won’t do any good deeds. Paul is saying that a Christian must be engaged with the world around them, not hide themselves in a cave waiting for Jesus to come and set everything in order.

Paul is saying that there are pressing needs that Christians must engage in . The bible is filled with examples of activities for you to be engaged with. One example in James1:27 mentions to visit the fatherless and widows while they are in pain and to not let the world corrupt you.

WEB James 1:27
27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, [and] to keep himself unspotted from the world.

The point is TO BE ENGAGED in displaying Christ thru your works or as Jesus states in Mt 5:14-16 of being the light of the world and displaying your light in the world by having the world see your Godly works – not for your own glory and honour but so that they will give glory and honor to the Father.

 RSV Matthew 5:14-16
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid.
15 Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

The last part of Titus3:14 states that you will not be unfruitful if you do good deeds and it’s also stating that YOU WILL BE UNFRUITFUL if you do not do any good deeds.

How many good deeds can you count as doing today?

Can you count even to 1?
