In part 1 of “Jesus’ deliverance and healings” 55 miracles of Jesus were briefly reviewed. Miracles were common place in Jesus’ ministry throughout the 4 gospels. The miracles were as simple as curing a fever to raising Lazarus from the dead after 4 days in the tomb.
Jesus selected 12 uneducated men (Acts4:13) and trained them but there were others outside of Jesus’ basic ministry school that believed and began to put that belief into action by casting out demons (Mk9:38-40). This man was preaching the gospel correctly according to Jesus.
The 7 sons of Sceva who were Jewish exorcists tried to use the name of Jesus and the demonized man attacked them, overpowered them, wounded them and stripped them. The demons showed the exorcists who had the correct power and authority to cast out demons and to heal.
One has to look in the gospels to view the beginning of the Apostles miracles. First they performed basic ministry duties such as baptizing people (Jn4:1-2) then they were told to go “preach that men should repent.” Mk6:12. Jesus then gave them authority to heal and expel demons.
The miracles of the Apostles outside the 4 gospels are located primarily in the book of Acts. Outside of Acts from Romans to Jude the focus is not on signs, wonders and miracles but description of the enemy forces, its weak points and how to overcome them. Here’s my review of the Apostles miracles….
