In order to fully understand the bible you need to know the basic outline of the theme that ties all the books together. In doing so you’ll be able to see the big picture, you’ll grow in understanding and soon you’ll find it too restrictive or boring at the standard church that is only preaching in a small box that avoids the big picture.
The big picture is that the bible is a story about a certain group of people and follows them thru history from the old testament to the new testament. These people are defined as God’s people and he has given them blessings but he also allows other people to receive blessings that are not his people as long as they follow God’s laws.
