The Finish Line approaches

Day 9 of the 10 day fast.

eat-more-veggies  The completion of the 10 day Daniel fast is approaching. Daniel converted back to an omnivore once his fast ended – something I believe everyone who has been fasting is looking forward to.

Daniel’s fast was initially 10 days (Dan1:12) then it was extended to 3 years (Dan1:5). This 10 day fast is a small fraction of what Daniel went thru. Imagine having to go thru another 3 years. Would you have the faith and conviction to do so? Daniel was one of a handful of elite prayer warriors – some of which God highlighted in the bible.

Bonus Question: How small is this handful of elite prayer warriors? (see Rev4:4 for the answer)

This was also a chance to challenge or test your prayer life. David rejected King Saul’s armor when confronting the giant Goliath because David hadn’t tested or proven that he was comfortable in using the armor and weapons -1Sam17:39.

KJV 1 Samuel 17:39 And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.

That armor was fitted for a specific person and David didn’t fit what King Saul was used to. King David eventually got his armor and sword after he earned it or proven himself.

Each person’s prayer life is different at this time. One should take some time and think back how one could improve their prayer life.

Did outside influences cause you to skip a prayer?
Did you feel that you could have been better focused being in the moment of prayer?

What can you start doing now so that you can change your prayer time and focus to be more directed to Jesus?

What you did in the past made who you are today and what you will do today will be what you will become in the future. Use this testing/proving time to become a better and stronger prayer warrior.

Non fasters may say – what did you gain by your little fast?

I would respond we gain much in many ways.

The benefits as one faster has commented:
“…there is a difference between my usual prayers…”

What will you be doing after the fast is over with?

blanco-courthouseHow about going to a prayer meeting. Each 9/11 there has been prayers around the courthouses around the country. This effort is led by http://awakeningamerica.us/

I went to one in Blanco in 2012 (see Sept-16-2012-Were-you-Did-you-Why-didn’t-you) and plan to go there this year. What I’ve noticed is only a small group of people at the prayer event however a small distance away at the soccer/football field an over capacity crowds.

Everyone has been called to make a decision:

KJV Joshua 24:15. … choose you this day whom ye will serve; … but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

KJV 1 John 2:16-17
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Choose Jesus.

Regards,
David
